Thanks to the recent Transformers movies, the Robots In Disguise have become more desirable than ever. The Transformers toy line is now in its third decade of production ao there are countless models available. Anyone looking to build a Rare Transformers collection should try to target the following areas …
- The most collectible models are the Generation 1 series which were produced in conjuction with the cartoon series between 1984 and 1987. If possible look to purchase factory sealed models, but be aware that these can be worth in the hundreds of dollars.
- Every once in a while Hasbro produces limited edition or anniversary models, usually replicas of the Generation 1 series. These can be purchased new at time of release and tend to be expensive, but they are almst certain to appreciate in value.
- Look for replicas og the Generation 1 series which are factory sealed. Be certain that dealers are not passing off these replicas as originals by looking for a date onthe packaging. These replicas are worth far less than the original Transformers toys.
- Comic Books Stores and Conventions can be a great place to pick up Rare Transformers but you are unlikely to pick up a bargain. It is common to find rare models at these places but generally the dealers will have a good idea of their value.
- Always look for collectible Transformers toys which are sold without packaging. Have a good look to make sure that they have original parts and accessories and bear in mind that their condition will affect their value and appeal.
These guidelines should enable you to make a good start on assembling a quality collection of rare Transformers action figures.
